Tax director

Tax Director was the second job the website matched me with.  According to PayScale, the tax director has many responsibilities, including overseeing quarterly and annual regulatory and tax preparation, interviewing and training tax officers, and more. But I think the most important thing is to review and evaluate the compliance and accuracy of all accounting procedures that I can apply my knowledge. My economics major has many indicators that can be used to evaluate accounting procedures, so I am familiar with this work. The starting salary will be around $55,000 and will gradually increase with experience, eventually possibly reaching around $200,000 per year. And I think the salary is high and there is a lot of room for further growth. However, being a tax supervisor may be boring to me, despite the high salary. This is because I have access to different data and write many tiresome reports every day. In addition, accounting is too complicated for me. I had learned relevant knowledge in my previous university, so I know I am not very interested in the content of its work because a lot of things are related to accounting. Therefore, this job is complicated for me. Although it pays a high salary and I can be qualified with the knowledge I have learned, I am not interested in its work content, so I may not choose it as my first job in the future.

Consulting manager

And Consulting Manager was the eighth job PayScale matched me with. The main responsibility of consulting manager is to lead a team and develop work plans for the projects that are being executed and implemented. And in the consultation site with customers to communicate, try to solve the customer’s related problems and requirements. Actually, although there are many overlaps between this profession and my major of economics, it is more in line with the requirements of business administration in this major. But I am more likely to do this job because its working content coverage range is wide, this job not only needs to communicate with customers, but also it needs to lead the team to complete the whole project implementation. It is very challenging for me and I love the challenging life, so I am willing to try it. At the same time, what’s interesting to me about this job is that it’s a win-win situation to be able to provide effective advice to others, to meet the needs of the client, and to benefit myself. Although the final annual salary of the consultant may not reach the level of the tax director, the starting salary of the consultant is very high, which can reach $100,000 a year, and the salary of the consultant with rich working experience can also be stabilized at about $150,000. There are many famous consulting companies in the United States, such as Bain Capital, Boston Consulting Group, Mercer, etc. I hope that I can have the opportunity to intern in these famous consulting companies during my college life so that I can adapt to and explore relevant industries in advance, which can provide a good springboard for me to find a job in the future. Therefore, I think becoming a consulting manager is more appropriate for me compared to a tax director.

  1. The tax director matches your major, and the salary looks good. If I select economy as my major, maybe I will choose the tax director as my future job. Consulting manager’s salary is so appealing that I think being a consulting manager in the future is a wise choice. The design of the blog is neat and makes me engaged in it a lot.

  2. For the two jobs. I think that tax director match’s with author’s major well. They both need the basic of math. On the other hand, consulting manager covers wide range of areas. As a economics major student, author also can do this work well. This job not only can provide author a good salary, but also provide him chances of making friends.
The design of the blog is very clear with two interesting images.

  3. I understand that you don’t want to be a tax director because I also hate boring data and reports. I think it’s very brave that you like to work with challenges, and you have the spirit of serving others, which is great! I like your example of the relevant company’s practice, which can help readers better understand this kind of work.
