Annual Columbus Tango Festival

Welcome to Tango at Ohio State! Please join us for the 2nd Columbus Tango Festival from Friday October 27th to Sunday October 29th, 2023. A weekend-long Argentine Tango festival, this event features 3 days of workshops, 5 milongas, 5 DJs, and 1 live orchestra.

We will continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines required by the State of Ohio for our Tango Festival. The most recent CDC Recommendation are below:

CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the potentially serious outcomes of COVID-19 illness this fall and winter. 6:00-7:15pm: Workshop with Erin & Doruk: Integration, effort, and imagination: incorporating movement modalities for a richer tango. (All levels) Exploring somatic modalities and other movement disciplines to enhance and inspire your inner dance life
7:30-8:45pm: Workshop with Oscar: Tango (all levels) Milonguero twists and turns with followers ornaments. Technique, posture and musicality
9:00pm-2:00am: Halloween Milonga 1: Traditional milonga with DJ Tincho with performances

Saturday Oct 28th

12:00pm-1:15pm: Workshop with Oscar. Waltz (all levels)
flying with music, efficient movements and organic figures. Navigation and cadence
1:30-2:45pm: Workshop with Erin and Doruk. Moving with Momentum (Int/Adv) Working with and against momentum for exciting dynamics and flow
3:00-6pm: 50-50 Alternative-Traditional milonga with DJ Mac n Cheese
9:00pm-2:00am: Halloween Milonga 2: Traditional milonga with DJ Kim & live music from Tango with Winnie Cheung & Hugo Satorre

Sunday Oct 29th

12:00pm -1:15pm: Workshop with Oscar. Milonga traspié (all levels) All you need to know to dance a good milonga traspié
1:30pm-2:45pm: Workshop with Erin & Doruk. Musicality: “Kill Your Darlings” (Int/Adv) The festival is almost done! Let’s deconstruct your musical choices, and wreck your dancing for the rest of it! 😉
