Takeaways from ESLTECH

There is a lot I learned from this course. Some of these things include time management, planning for the future/figuring out what I want my future to look like, goal setting, finding credible sources, and how to go about group work and collaborating online. Having a strictly online class, you have no choice but to learn how to manage your time because you will indeed fall behind and your grade will reflect that. As far as planning for the future, and figuring out what I want my future to look like, doing the discussion posts forced me to set some time aside to really sit down and think about it. Along with this comes goal setting, and planning what i want to do next in order to reach my goals. Finding credible sources has always been an issue I’ve came across when trying to write my papers, and the tools I have read about in this course have really helped me. There may not be a lot of times where I’ll have to collaborate online solely without any face to face interactions but it was definitely beneficial to read about different tips and approaches to make this process successful. The take aways from this course were beneficial and I appreciated this course!

Learning Styles & Strategies

Learning strategies are different for each and every person. Some people are visual learners, some aural learners, some verbal learners, and some physical learners. For me personally, I have found that I am a mixture of a few.  The two that I identify with more closely are the visual and verbal styles. Not only do I have to see what I am learning, but hearing it also helps a lot. This goes hand and hand with your learning and studying strategies. Physically writing my notes sticks in my head better than me typing them. Repetition is also one of my favorite learning strategies. Last summer I took a medical terminology class, in which  I had to learn the entire body and its functions. Seeing where the certain limbs and bones and other parts were physically on the body helped me a lot, then repeatedly saying them aloud made it stick in my brain.

Time, Tasks, & Environment Management

Time management is a useful tool in every aspect of life, not on academics. This is something I will use for the rest of my life. There were many videos, and articles during our module that helped me to realize there is more to time management then just getting your assignments done. Environment is a major part of time management. Setting up the right environment and making sure you’re in a quiet place where you can focus and do the best you can on your work is a great start to doing your tasks. This is something I never realized before, and didn’t notice how much of an impact it has on the outcome of your work. The tools I have learned from this specific module, I will most definitely carry with me the rest of my life!
