Time, Task, & Environment: Week 4 Reflection
Sydney Zelin
Committing to online learning can be a challenge for many people. Focusing on key components can be extremely helpful in organizing, staying responsible, and getting the most out of the course. Those key components are time, tasks, and study environment. Paying attention to those are vital to success in online learning.
I have had many personal challenges that have affected my ability to work at my fullest potential in an online course. One challenge that stood out greatly to me happened recently. I had great changes to my personal home environment that affected how I could get my work done. Since the environment of my home changed, a lot of my time was taken because of It. I had more tasks than I would normally have. All together, my ability to complete my work competently and on time was compromised.
I live in my sorority house, which had a severe rodent problem. We ended up being evicted for 3 weeks, right before spring break. I had many assignments due that week when It happened. I usually do my online assignments at my desk in my bedroom, but since I was evicted, my study environment had to be adjusted. On top of that, I had to move all my belongings out of my house into a temporary location. The time I would normally have to do my online coursework was compromised, since I needed to spend time moving out. My tasks were added to and impacted. My study environment was taken from me for some time, so I had to adjust that.
To solve my environment issue, I did my work at Thompson Library. To be more organized, I woke up earlier and made a schedule for each day, setting time for moving and other time for doing my online coursework. This made my time more efficient and made sure that all of my tasks were complete.
