Building Instructions

  1. Level a hair dryer vertically upward on a table that is approximately 74 cm high.
  2. Plug in the hair dryer to a remote-controlled power supply. Switch the dryer to the lowest power setting. Keep the power supply in off mode.
  3. Cut a piece of poster paper with a length of 60 cm and a width that is 2 cm more than the circumference of the nozzle of the hair dryer.
  4. Roll and tape the poster paper in to a tube. The height of the tube should be 60 cm.
  5. Place the tube over the nozzle of the hair dryer. Position the tube vertically and tape it to the wall.
  6. Drop the ping-pong ball into the tube so that it rests on the nozzle’s surface
  7. Tape the exterior right side of the small cup to the exterior right side of the tube. Rest the cup so that its left side lies across the tube’s opening.
  8. Place the rubber ball in the cup.
  9. Cut a piece of poster paper 6 cm in width and 60 cm in length. Fold 2 cm in from each side to create a ramp.
  10. Tape the ramp on the wall at a 45° angle from the tube. The top-left end of the ramp should be next to the tube so the rubber ball can fall in to it.
  11. Use the base of the hanger to obtain a straight thin rod. Cut using hands or saw if available.
  12. Tie a knot with ribbon on one end of the rod. Tape the other end of the rod on the wall. Pull the ribbon at a 45° angle from the rod and tape it taught against the wall (approximately 40 cm vertically above the rod). This creates a right triangle with the wall, ribbon, and rod.
  13. Place the egg carton on the rod. Balance it like a seesaw while using the rod as a pivot. The left side of the egg carton should be 0.5 cm below the bottom-right of the track.
  14. Fold a note card 1 cm from both sides to make a ramp. Tape it to the wall to the right of the see saw.
  15. Cut 1.5 cm long pieces pipe cleaners and tape them 1.5 cm away from each other on the note card. Gently place the marbles on the note card, using the pipe cleaners as stoppers for the marbles.
  16. Tape the empty toilet paper roll vertically on the wall. The opening should be 6 cm diagonally downward to the right from the note card ramp. The marbles should be able to fall down through the tube.
  17. Cut another piece of poster paper. The dimensions should be 60 cm by 10 cm.
  18. Make a funnel out of the paper so that one end has a significantly larger circumference than the other. Place this funnel into the toilet paper roll.
  19. Cut another piece of poster paper. The dimensions should be 60 cm by 10 cm. Roll this paper into a tube so that the circumference of the ends are just slightly smaller than the roll of toilet paper. Place the tunnel into the bottom of the toilet paper roll.
  20. Place a disengaged mouse trap directly under the tube (possibly on a table).
  21. Place the medium sized cup directly underneath the tube and on top of the mouse trap.
  22. Tie a piece of string (or yarn) on the mousetrap and the other end on the light switch so there is a little bit of slack. Tape the string on the light switch for reinforcement.
  23. Engage the mouse trap so that the string is taught.
  24. Press the button on the remote to start the machine.
