Global Awareness: I proudly state that I obtained the traveling itch fairly early. The idea of a whole world out there to explore makes me excited. I participated in two global learning trips. My first was to England and Scotland during the summer of 2015. We explored the beautiful land, made friends, and participated in traditional events. My second was to the US and British Virgin Islands focused on global sustainability and the Taino culture. Both trips have excited my traveling interest and encourage me to continue on embracing knowledge of other cultures.

Original Inquiry: While I have not had any experience working within the field of research at The Ohio State University I do wish to partake in it at a later point. My main interest would be biomedical studies based on dairy cattle. My main animal interest is the dairy cow and I believe that developing newer and better technology for illnesses and the industry would be an amazing part of my college experience.

Academic Enrichment: Academics are my focus, they always have been. I challenge myself to become experienced in many fields. On campus not only am I a part of Biological Science Scholars, I am also a part of the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association based through the college and I have the ultimate desire to attend Veterinary Medical School when my undergraduate degree is finished. I want to challenge myself academically and outside of school as well. I currently work at a horse barn in Hilliard and I recently applied for a summer internship. Balancing the workload is my main priority and something I aim to excel in.
Leadership Development: I am a freshman currently, but that doesn’t stop me from seeking leadership positions. I currently hold a shift lead position at a companion animal boarding facility and aim to extend my skills into the college field. A couple of my goals include becoming a peer leader through the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences as well as potentially applying for an RA position.
Service Engagement:Community Service is an important part of wanting to help the world become a better place. Every summer I help set-up and work a farmer’s market held by Franklin County WIC for families on food stamps in the Columbus area. I worked with elementary school kids during their fitness fair, an event after school hours that encouraged kids to participate in games designed to improve the physical health of the children. I also helped work track and field events of my High School and tutor a neighbor ADHD student in math.
