Global Awareness

Spring semester of 2017, I joined the Morrill Global Buddies Program, which pairs two domestic students with two international students to form long-term friendships. This experience has definitely helped me form more of a global mindset because I am exposed to another culture on a casual setting. We all love to play basketball, and I foresee us becoming great friends!

Hall Council of the Year Video Entry

Using the skills I learned in the video sandbox offered by the Media, Marketing and Communications Scholars, I filmed and edited the video included in the link above to submit my residence hall, Morrill Tower, for the  2016-2017 Hall Council of the Year award.

I was successful in my endeavors, and Morrill Tower was inscribed on the Residence Hall Activities Council (RHAC) plaque, proudly displayed in the tower’s lobby as the 2016-2017 Hall Council of the Year.

MMC’s sandbox was instrumental in this process. I used Adobe Premier to create this 3 minute video, which I would not have been able to do without the knowledge provided by the video sandbox.

WorkSMART

In the fall of 2016, I partook in the WorkSMART sandbox offered by the Media, Marketing, and Communications Scholars program. This project group was focused on making and fulfilling goals. The SMART goal I chose was to become QUIC certified, which stands for Qualified Undergraduate Interviewing Candidate. The QUIC certification is required of all Fisher students before they interview with any company on campus. The WorkSMART sandbox helped me to pick an attainable goal and create a timeline to create it.

I was awarded the QUIC Certified badge, provided visually above, by the Office of Career Management, and I have interviewed multiple times since last fall.

About Me

Hannah SuttonHello! My name is Hannah Sutton. I am finishing up my second year in Fisher’s Accounting specialization, and I plan on declaring a minor in Information Systems through the College of Computer Science and Engineering. I strive to be a role model to others, which is shown by my leadership positions in the Morrill Tower Activities Board, Accounting Association, and the Ohio Student Service Society. These activities also show my time management and organizational skills.

Additionally, I am the athletics coordinator of the Media, Marketing and Communications Scholars (MMC) program. I quickly knew that MMC was the group I wanted to associate with first because technology is a concept that will become increasingly important as time continues. I have enjoyed building my professionalism and meeting students with the same interests as me, and I know I made the right decision. I love exploring all of the opportunities Ohio State has to offer, and I am excited about my future as an Ohio State Buckeye.

Year in Review

The past year has been a whirlwind of development and change. This time last year, I was casually involved in a couple different organizations as a general body member. Now, I am president of the Morrill Tower Activities Board, vice president of programming for the Accounting Association, treasurer for the Ohio Student Service Society, and athletics commissioner for the Media, Marketing, and Communications Scholars program. I have an idea of what company I want to work for, where, and what specific field. I have adjusted to college life and know how to manage my time, study, and balance my social activities. I signed a lease for an off-campus apartment, and I have the rest of my college career completely planned out.

The future is bright, and I am excited to see what the coming year brings.
