REI’s sustainability chief to speak at Ohio State

Combine your work and passions and you can climb mountains. Including real ones.

That’s the message of a presentation being given by Vik Sahney, vice president for sustainability for Seattle-based REI, on April 12 at Ohio State.

Sahney, who at age 38 has climbed the highest peaks on all seven continents, including Mt. Everest, will present “From Summits to Sustainability: Reaching for High Places, Personally and Professionally” at 7 p.m. in the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom in the Ohio Union in Columbus. Sustainability Career Expo is Thursday

Hey, sustainability-related CFAES students and sustainability-related companies and agencies interested in hiring CFAES students: Our college’s annual Environmental and Sustainability Career Expo is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 16.

Admission is free and open to all current Ohio State students. Bring your BuckID. Employers, you can register to attend through the Hireabuckeye website.

Of note: This year, for the first time, we’re holding all three of our career expos — the Environmental and Sustainability Career Expo plus the Food and Agricultural Sciences Career Expo and the Construction Career Expo — at the same time. Connect with people who share your passion: ‘Thousands of professionals in Ohio and beyond’

A reminder that, while you don’t have to be a member of the Environmental Professionals Network to attend its monthly programs, there are lots of good reasons to join anyway. (It’s free, too, so there’s that.) If you work in an environmental field, if you’re studying in an environmental field and hope to work in it eventually, maybe even soon, the network will link you to “thousands of professionals in Ohio and beyond,” its website says. “Professionals are thus connected in a ‘community’ of people who share their passion for our world and its environment, natural resources, people, and communities — local to global.” Visit the website here.
