CFAES’ 2019 Ohio Compost Operator Education Course, planned for anyone involved with commercial and large-scale composting, is coming soon, set for March 27–28 on CFAES’ Wooster campus. Some of the many topics to be covered: principles, biology, testing, marketing, and site design and management.
Registration is $275 for the first participant from an organization or company; $225 for each additional participant from the same organization or company; and includes materials, continental breakfast, and lunch.

If done right, composting can be a safe, cost-effective way to dispose of dead farm animals, and you can get certified to do it on March 7 in 
CFAES’s Ohio State University Extension outreach arm presents a Livestock Mortality Composting workshop from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at its Mahoning County office, 490 S. Broad St. in Canfield. Registration is $25. “It’s not the most talked about topic on the farm,” the event flier says, “but it’s one of the more important things to think about if you own livestock.”

Registration is open for the Ohio Compost Operator Education Course, a professional development course on large-scale composting set for March 21-22 in Wooster.
Ohio State was recently named the Big Ten Conference champion in the 2017 Game Day Recycling Challenge, a national competition to promote waste reduction and sustainability at college football games. 
This year’s Composting in Ohio tour, featuring industry issues and innovative facilities, will center around Lake Erie.
