Big drop in cost of solar: Get help deciding if it’s right for your farm

An upcoming webinar series will help farmers make informed decisions on whether solar energy is a wise investment for them.

Why consider solar?

One reason is because since 2010, the average price of installing a commercial solar photovoltaic system has dropped from $5.36 per watt (direct current) to $1.85 per watt, according to a U.S. Department of Energy report.

“To increase a farm’s profitability, you need to explore strategies to control or decrease your expenses,” says CFAES state energy specialist Eric Romich, one of the series’ two instructors.

The weekly webinars start Jan. 12 and run through Feb. 22. The cost is $10 per webinar or $40 for the series, a $20 savings.
