Columbus Exploration

For our exploration of Columbus, we ended up going to Cup O’ Joe north on high street. Though it was very busy, we were able to get a seat and breakfast. I ended up getting a Milkyway, which is a caramel and chocolate laced mocha. They also had vegan snacks from a nearby bakery called Patty Cake that I know from experience are delicious.I definitely have a new respect for all the coffee shops because I would never have imagined that  it would be that busy! I would recommend it to a friend, but would insist they go earlier, or decide to take their drink to a different location to enjoy.

Columbus To-Do List #2

Over this semester, I explored to three separate places in Columbus: the Independence Day Festival, Condados, and the Worthington Farmers Market. All of these were great and allowed me to get to know Columbus and the surrounding area, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would have to be Condados. I have always enjoyed tacos, but Condados captured my heart through a combination of cheap food, artistic personality, and delicious flavors. By exploring these places, my perception of Columbus has been widened and I have learned to be more adventurous in my experiences. This has led to me being more confident in my Columbus experience and going out more. If you would like to go into Columbus more, I suggest starting with food. As a foodie, this means that it will never be a wasted trip. At least you will come away being full and that is always a plus.

Condados

The first thing you should know about Condados is that it is a taco restaurant. Not only is it a taco restaurant, it is a cheap, tasteful taco restaurant. In setting an edgy, modern tone with its abundant black and white artwork, it enhances the comfortable and unique personality given by the food. When ordering, you fill out a menu and send it in instead of ordering to the waitress. The menu includes a large variety of options for any number of taco loving tastes. With the endless chips to finish it all off, Condados is definitely a place I would recommend.

Worthington Market

When first walking up to the market, it seemed endless. Based upon many signs, there were over 500 booths in attendance, each shopkeeper adjusting their wares to find the optimal angle for purchase. While it was much more diverse than my hometown farmers market, there were booths that echoed a note of comfort and sweets. Dazzled by all the options, I kept my purse close in order to keep it from running off on its own shopping spree. After a greed buy of flavored honey, I came upon a booth of my dreams. It was full of ceramics bowls and beauty. After a long conversation with the artist, I found myself walking onto the next booth to trying the samples of what the rest of this market had to offer. Since the market was so diverse, I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to try free samples and learn about each different shop.

Artifacts #2

On one of my first weekends at Ohio State, Pay It Forward held a Community Commitment Day, and I ended up going to a park to pick up trash. While I was there, I was completely amazed by how much trash the creek and surrounding area held. When I asked, I found out that most of it was coming from the highway system during storms. Multiple people who were at the park walking came and thanked us for cleaning it up. After that day of service, I was amazed about the amount of trash I saw, and I realized how much I appreciated having a trash free area and the people who made our campus cleaner.

Columbus To-Do List

In the interest of getting to know the city, I have chosen two different themes. I want to experience different foods here and go to festivals and events. One of the reasons I chose Ohio State was because of its proximity to Columbus and all the different experiences Columbus has to offer. Recently, I went to the Independence Day Festival, which combined a market of small businesses, a variety of musical artists, and food trucks. I had a great time experiencing the many different types of music and browsing through the small businesses of Columbus. I would definitely recommend the Independence Day Festival to anyone who wants to experience a variety of music, food, and businesses.

About Me #2

Hello again! During this post, I am going to talk about my top five strengths. My top strength is individualization. This means that I am like to find the uniqueness in people and like to set up teams that have the best chance of meeting each other. I love figuring out different people and their stories. My second strength is being an arranger. An arranger likes to organize people and resources in the most advantageous ways. They are flexible and thrive on unexpected situations. My third strength is restorative. Being restorative means that I am solution oriented and when something stops working, I enjoy fixing it and restoring it to its previous capability or even better. My fourth strength is being an activator. This means I am good at finding ways to turn ideas into actions and am good at gathering enough momentum to jump start a project. Last, but not least, my fifth strength is bringing harmony. By valuing harmony, I bring practicality and collaboration to groups.

Artifact #1

This is a picture of one of my favorite ceramic pieces from high school. During my junior year, I discovered a talent in ceramics and in my senior year, it became a deep passion. When I came to Ohio State, I heard that there was a Ceramic Engineering concentration and I was immediately interested. While I knew that it wouldn’t be the same as a ceramic art class, I decided I could have possibly found a way to meld one of my casual passions with what I am studying.
