Email Access
All students are issued a Buckeye email account. This is the official method by which Ohio State will communicate with you on a range of administrative and academic matters.
It is very important that each Ohio State student establish an Ohio State e-mail account. By doing so, the student will activate his/her Ohio State internet username which grants access to e-mail, registration for classes, grades, degree audits, wireless, Carmen, and library resources.
We suggest that new students do not forward their osu.edu e-mail to other e-mail service providers. There have been problems transferring OSU e-mail to other e-mail service providers. In order to ensure that students regularly receive their osu.edu e-mail, we suggest the student log in, read their e-mails, and regularly empty the trash of unneeded e-mail.
Phishing and Other E-mail Scams
Relevant spam e-mail can be reported to
report-phishing@osu.edu. The Ohio State University will never ask for account information via e-mail. When in doubt, do not respond!
Technology Assistance
Multiple resources are provided to students in need of Technology assistance. For questions pertaining to email, accounts & passwords, Carmen etc., students may contact the OCIO IT service desk. 614-688-HELP (4357) or online at ocio.osu.edu/help/. Additionally, students may visit the technology help desk in the Bromfield Library and Information Commons. The BLIC help desk can provide basic technology, Wi-Fi & Carmen support and direction for using campus software. This local service may not be able to provide virus removal. It is strongly recommended that all students install an anti-virus program on their devices. For more information, give us a visit or call 419-755-4316.
Wireless Internet Access
On the Ohio State Mansfield campus, all buildings, including the living areas of the Molyet Village Apartments, are equipped with wireless hot spots that can be accessed with a valid Ohio State username and password. Visit wireless.osu.edu to configure devices or download configuration utilities.
