Abstract: Discontinuous Galerkin methods (DG methods) form a class of numerical methods for solving differential equations. They combine features of the finite element and the finite volume framework and have been successfully applied to many problems. In this talk, I plan to give a general introduction to Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin(RKDG) methods. I will also introduce my recent work, a new type of RKDG methods. We call it Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin(cRKDG) methods, which feature improved compactness and allow simple boundary treatment.
