I plan to approach the G.O.A.L.S. by working to incorporate my specific interests into each component so that I can obtain an education that will best prepare me for my future career and life aspirations. In order to fulfill the Global Awareness component of the G.O.A.L.S., I plan to participate in a study abroad program that will allow me to practice my Spanish speaking skills and experience the unique culture of a foreign country. Ideally I would like to study abroad for an entire semester, but I am also considering shorter programs such as Global May and other summer opportunities. I am particularly interested in the study abroad opportunities offered in Spain. I also plan to attend global engagement night throughout the year, which is organized by the Office of International Affairs. This is an event where international and domestic students meet to discuss issues affecting college students on campus and across the world. To fulfill the Original Inquiry requirement, I plan to participate in clinical neuroscience research and take upper level coursework in neuroscience. I plan to fulfill the Academic Enrichment requirement by earning a degree in several different areas of study that I am interested in. My planned curriculum is to major in neuroscience and business, and minor in Spanish. I am very interested in medicine, and I plan to use my degrees to pursue a career in the healthcare field either as a physician or a medical sales representative. Spanish is a passion of mine, and it is also a highly desired skill in the medical field. Learning to speak Spanish and understand the Spanish culture will allow me to provide care and service to a larger group of people. This combination of degrees will allow me to have flexibility in the future as I will be prepared for several different career paths. To fulfill the Leadership requirement, I plan to get involved in organizations where I can develop communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills while working towards a cause or purpose that I am passionate about. Although I have not yet found a specific organization to join, I am actively searching for one. Finally, I plan to fulfill the Service Engagement requirement by becoming an active member of Rallycap Sports. Rallycap is an organization that is dedicated to providing athletic opportunities for children and young adults with special needs. I am passionate about this cause, and I believe that there is a lot that can be done to improve the opportunities that exist for both children with special needs and their caretakers. This opportunity will allow me to pursue my interest in working directly with members of my community, and, more specifically, members that come from several diverse backgrounds.
