The Mothman has become something of a revered figure in West Virginia. A Mothman festival is now held in Point Pleasant every year. This event consists of many different things. Many cryptozoologists discuss findings in events and up until recently when the last surving member of the couple passed on she would speak about the first sighting at the old munitions plant. The celebration also sees sale of Mothman themed food and crafts such as Mothman shaped pizza and Mothman sculptures. The festival also hosts a beauty pageant to crown a “Mrs, Mothman.” Point Pleasant is also home to the Mothman museum which holds many newspaper clippings from reports on the sighting of the Mothman as well as housing other memorabilia of Mothman such as items relation to the Mothman Prophecies movie
