I am currently an elementary art teacher at Washington Elementary in Hilliard. I also do some freelance graphic design on the side, but not as much as I use to. I use iPads and iMacs in my studio with students and I am geting a 3D printer in the fall! I am also the building webmaster and techie. I am also working on using my classroom twitter more frequently! I just got it, but you can check it out if you want @stevens_studio. My studio site has some links to some art games if you ever want something fun to do! I am also working with the Hilliard art teachers in creating a graphical blog about the K-12 art studio experience. You can check it out here!
Throughout my six years of teaching, technology has become more and more prevalent in
how I teach, assess, and communicate with students. I believe that technology will only continue
to transform how teachers interact with students, families, colleagues, and materials.
As a freelance graphic designer, I recognize the importance of technology in art and continually incorporate this into my art lessons. I have further stretched my technology experiences by managing my art studio website as well as the website for my school building. I was recently able to become a member of the International Society for Technology in Education which afforded me the opportunity to attend their conference in Philadelphia. There, I was able to learn about new and exciting technological advances that I have shared with my administrators and colleagues. The experience also enabled me to infuse new ideas, programs, and apps into my lesson plans to the educational benefit of my students. It is my goal to continue to learn new techniques, programs, applications, and hardware that will allow me to become a more dynamic teacher.
I want to be able to share my knowledge and experiences by working collaboratively with my colleagues and administrators to implement new technologies into the everyday teaching and learning experience of the students.
