Organization, Goals and Learning Styles

One of the biggest takeaways I’ve had in this class is how helpful online tools can be to organize your life. While many times technology, especially apps can be seen as taking away productive time, there are many tools out there that help with the exact opposite. In the past few weeks I have really enjoyed learning more about those technologies, such as Trello, study scheduler, and shovel, to help organize my days and keep me more accountable. A second takeaway is the importance of setting realistic goals. Many times goals are set up without being very specific, which can make it difficult to achieve. I have personally enjoyed learning to set very specific goals that include more details, which allow me to actually be successful. Breaking down a big goal into smaller manageable ones really makes a huge difference. Finally, this week really taught me a lot about learning styles. For awhile, I really believed that everyone had one specific learning style and that teachers/schools that embraced that do a lot better than those who didn’t. This week through research and discussion, I was able to find out this is actually not supported by a lot of studies. There are very little studies that have continued to backup the claim that a learning style is more efficient in terms of learning. These takeaways are all things that I believe will help in making me a better student and allow me to achieve my goals.
