Hello! Welcome to my STEP project log, where you can find all of the information regarding my quadcopter drone build. Before diving into the documentation of how I am building this quadcopter drone, I want to first outline the purpose and goals of this project. STEP has given my imagination the opportunity to run wild – with the STEP funding, I am able to complete a project that give me some valuable experience in an area I find interesting, as well as have some fun doing so.
The goals of this project is to create a quadcopter drone. The drone should have the following functions:
- Fly
- Hold a steady position
- Record stabilized video and take pictures
To build the drone, the following technologies will be used:
- 3D printing
- Custom PCB design
Finally, the drone should be optimized for:
- Maximum battery life
- Minimum size
As I build this drone, I will constantly update this blog about my progress. I also intend to post resources and links to sites that I found useful in my research for this project, so that anyone who cares to follow along can also build their own drone and read the same articles I have to get an understanding of my design choices. Finally, my code will all be posted in a public Github repository.
