Accepting applications for 2025-2026!

We hope you consider applying to the STEMM Learning Community at Ohio State Newark! The application now available, which you can access under the “Application” tab on the left-hand navigation bar. Students are encouraged to pay their non-refundable Ohio State Acceptance Fee by this time as well, if applicable. There is no fee to apply to the learning community. Our program is free and is for the primary purpose to support our students in their success!

All About the STEMM Learning Community

The STEMM Learning Community offers social and academic support for students while also providing an opportunity to build a connection with their STEMM major through experiential learning activities in the first year. These opportunities allow students to receive support and make connections with STEMM faculty and professionals and to see innovative work being done in the field while starting their foundational math courses.

IS THIS FOR ME?
The STEMM Learning Community is for science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine majors who have placed into elementary algebra (R, S, or T level) on the OSU Math Placement Test and who have been accepted to Ohio State Newark.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

Builds community through a small cohort model while connecting students with other STEMM majors as well as with faculty and staff mentors

Connects students with experiential opportunities and hands-on learning in STEMM careers

Establishes strong math foundation to advance in STEMM major

Courses taken together as a cohort with embedded peer tutors in the classroom create unique learning environment and opportunities for students to fulfill requirements

Support for the transition to the Columbus campus to finish degree
