Year in Review

Global Awareness: As a student at a university that strives to produce well rounded citizens to enter the work force, I believe that I should be globally aware. I plan to take more courses in sociology and philosophy to study trends in modern culture. These courses will teach me of the seen and unseen variables in modern-day societies.

Original Inquiry: Currently, I am working in a research lab to better my skills at asking scientific questions, and also answering them. I practice laboratory techniques daily, and I keep track of short-term work with my long-term goals in mind.

Academic Enrichment: I believe this area is a culmination of all the others, with a focus on coursework. For this area specifically, I plan to take classes that interest me in addition to the courses I need to graduate. Outside of the classroom, my research will provide me with ample enrichment; I plan on writing many scientific papers to apply for scholarships, and these require reading many scientific articles for each paper.

Leadership Development: Any great leader must know how to follow, and that is why I believe that working under several members in a research lab helps develop leaders. As an undergraduate researcher, I must listen and communicate with the members in my lab to work on each project, which all contribute to similar lab goals. In addition to lab work, I would like to be a leader in a Buck-I-SERV trip, which I plan to do next winter.

Service Engagement: In addition to the Buck-I-SERV trip I wish to take, I am currently a volunteer at The James hospital. I began volunteering there once a week during the Spring 18 semester, and will continue to do so through graduation.

Ready to be a buckeye

I am a social person and learner. I like to entertain many possibilities before accepting a certain answer as the right answer because I believe that when people work together with open minds they are capable of achieving more. Keeping both my mind and body active is important to me, along with constantly striving to improve myself in all areas. Curiosity to find the answer to a problem drives me to learn more about the people and ideas around me.  I look forward to arriving on campus, learning new things, and meeting new people.
