Hi everyone! My name is Melanie Steinberger, and I am extremely excited and privileged to be a member of Health Science Scholars this year! I am from Strongsville, Ohio, a small town just 20 minutes outside of Cleveland. I am the oldest of 6 kids and a first generation college student! I am undecided in my major for now as I originally was a nursing major before I decided to switch to the Pre-Medicine track. Ohio State was my dream school, and I am extremely excited to be here! It has been a dream of mine since I was young to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon and open my own private practice. I dream to be able to change lives in my own unique way, by caring for patients and seeing their cases through to the end. I am an avid sports fan and I love to play soccer and volleyball, but my favorite sports are Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit. I love challenging, long workouts and heavy weights, and I fell in love with both of these sports 2 years ago and I haven’t stopped since. My future dream is to compete in a weightlifting competition and go to nationals, which is why I joined the Ohio State powerlifting club this year. This year, I am ready to take on any challenge that comes my way. I feel prepared and ready for this semester!
