Year in Review
[ “Year in Review” is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student. You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year. G.O.A.L.S.
Global Awareness: Already in my first month at Ohio State, I have made progress in broadening my global awareness. I am enrolled in an Honors Anthropology class which focuses on the cultures of the world and how they are studied. I plan to continue to work in this class to learn more about seeing different cultures with an unbiased eye, which is a key part of global awareness. Also, I plan to involve myself in different global clubs and organisations, having already attended an Ohio State Habad event.
Original Enquiry: This goal shows how good Ohio State is for research of any kind and level. I intend to pursue this goal by enrolling in a research based class in the following semesters and eventually working at a research laboratory on campus. In order to qualify myself for this goal I will maintain academic strength and good relationships with my professors while investigating all the different types of research OSU has to offer.
Academic Enrichment: I chose a major in Biology at Ohio State because I have future aspirations to attend medical school and practice medicine. All of my classes are taken to attain an education that will not only prepare me for post-undergraduate education, but also to make me a well rounded individual. I have selected and plan to select a course load that challenges me and pushes me into excellence.
Leadership Development: By enrolling in the honors program, I exemplified how I plan to be a leader among my peers academically and outside the classroom. This means I will always strive to be the top of my class by putting in the necessary work, and by trying to show my leadership qualities in some of the many clubs and organisations at Ohio State. Whenever I have had the opportunity in school or in extracurricular activities, I mostly lead by example.
Service Engagement: This goal means that whenever the opportunity arises to give back to the community, you fulfill it to the best of your ability. Firstly, in order to help further my goal of making it to medical school, I plan to volunteer at the Wexner Medical Center or at one of the hospitals in Columbus for all four years at OSU. Working with patients at a hospital can contribute to my understanding of the hardships many people face daily with health issues. Also, I intend to volunteer in Columbus during the school year or in Dublin, Ohio during the summer at places such as food pantries or halfway houses to contribute to the communities I live in.
Career
[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career. Artifacts
[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation. An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.
