AU15 Green Engineering Scholars Presentation

This is a project I did with two other people for a GES class. As a team, we researched water-conserving technologies and how they would affect Ohio State if they were implemented around campus. During the process of doing the project, I learned the importance of water conservation and how much water is wasted daily per an average human being. Looking back, I was not conscious of my water-usage. However, after researching the topic with my team and learning what I learned, I am more conscious of my water-usage and plan on optimizing my daily routine so that I do not use more than what is necessary.

About Me

Tom Junior3

My name is Thomas Steen and I am a full-time student at the Ohio State University. I was born and raised in the town of Deptford, New Jersey. I went to high school in a small city in New Jersey called Gloucester City, also known to me as the place at which I met some of the most influential people of my life. The high school I attended is called Gloucester Catholic High School, respectably known to other Catholic schools in the region as an athletic and academic powerhouse. Fortunately, I was able to be involved with both sides of the high school spectrum. From Sophomore year until I graduated, I was on the varsity golf team. I also retained a comfortable spot in the top five of my class and graduated with that status. Without some of the teachers I was able to spend time with during many days of high school, I would not have been as successful. One of the most meaningful experiences I had in high school was shaking my favorite teacher’s hand at graduation while he told me that he knew I would be successful in the future.

Now, as I start a new chapter in my life, I am looking to challenge myself everyday, while attempting to better myself academically, socially, and physically. I am currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences and plan on majoring in Computer and Information Science. I plan on doing technical research projects throughout my college career which primarily focus on developing new strategies and protocols for intrusion prevention systems. Preferably, at the end of my college, I will have gained a comfortable technical background as well as a network of experts that I can seek advice from. However, until then, I have decided to keep my mind open to any opportunity I see as I plan my next steps forward.
