Columbus To Do List (Part 1 — Ice Cream and Desserts)

For these five different experiences, I decided to choose the topic on ice cream and desserts. I chose this topic because 1) ice cream and desserts and some things that I love, and 2) because this is probably the cheapest option that was on this list. I am excited to try all of the different desserts that the city of Columbus has to offer. Coming from Cleveland, we have some similar things, but also things that are only unique to Columbus, so my main goal is to either try things that I cannot get in Cleveland, or try places where I have never been before that Columbus and Cleveland both share. From this assignment, I hope that I can appreciate the culture that the Short North, High Street, and downtown Columbus can bring to Ohio State students.

My first experience happened on Thursday night–technically Friday morning–around 1:30 a.m. Me and a friend decided that we should go to Insomnia Cookies since it was close to our dorm and was one of the few places that were open during that time. I ended up getting a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich and was very confused on how to actually eat it. In the end, I will definitely find myself there again and would recommend Insomnia Cookies to anyone.

My next experience came on Monday after classes were let out. I walked down to the Short North and stopped in at Simply Rolled Ice Cream. It was a cool experience as to how they make something so simple, so unique. I think one of the greatest parts is that when I ordered the Oreo ice cream, they used the Halloween Oreo to be in the spirit, instead of the regular one. The result of Simply Rolled is the same of Insomnia Cookies: I will be back there sooner rather than later.
