Week 8 – Move with your Motivation

Its not often that you think about what it is that motivates you in life. Reflecting, I have come to realize that most of my motivation comes from others who want to see me succeed. I know at some point in time you have heard the term “that ship has sailed” meaning you missed out on an opportunity to do something, regardless of what it is. I feel it is never too late to find someone to guide and mentor you along your journey. I have many people who support me but I want to recognize one very instrumental person in my college career who is mentoring and motivating me in multiple aspects of life. This special person would be Mrs. Stephanie Clemons-Thompson.
Stephanie was the retention counselor i was given sophomore year because I am a Young Scholar student. I was hesitant to see her at first. I didn’t like changing people because of the relationship i had already established but has done so much for me in the last 2 years that i could have only hoped to do in the 5 years that i am here.
She helped me make SMART goals, determine a major that suits me, vent about life, applaud my accomplishments and she taught me how to be my own support system. She allows me to deal with the now and think towards the future.
