Year in Review

A Year in Review: This past year was wonderful. I grew into a new person compared to high school. I’ve learned a lot about college and the years to come. My biggest piece of advice is to take care of yourself. Make sure to eat right, get lots of sleep, and give yourself some downtime once in a while. Sleep is the biggest thing to worry about. Pulling all nighters is not fun and caffeine only works for so long. After this semester, I’ve learned how badly I need sleep and staying up late to study is never a good idea. Overall I think I’ve had a successful year filled with great memories and great people I spent my time with. I’m already excited for next year.

G.O.A.L.S.

A: I talked to Elizabeth Weger, who is the same major and career path as me. We are both Human Development and Family Science majors and are pre-Occupational therapy. I asked several questions about some of her choices in school. We discussed what our career path would be if it was not occupational therapy. Elizabeth liked child life specialist or something working with children with disabilities. I have also been looking at a minor to pursue, so I asked if she had looked into any minors. Currently, she is getting a disability studies minor. The last thing we talked about was getting involved for grad school. Elizabeth said to join clubs and be consistent in going to those clubs as well as volunteer at therapy programs.

S: I did several service events with HSS as well as in other areas. First semester I attended a service Saturday at the Garden of Hope with HSS. The next service activities I did were volunteering at a blood drive in Park Stradley, timed at a club swim meet, and participated in a bowling event. Second semester I did the MLK day of service and went to Cosi with many HSS members. The other event I did was dodgeball for chimes.

About Me

My name is Annie Stankivicz, and I’m from Rocky River, Ohio. I’m a first year student and in health sciences scholars. I chose Ohio State for all the incredible opportunities that were available for me. Also for what I wanted to major in, the programs were some of the best in the country. I hope to complete my undergraduate degree in health sciences, and continue to graduate school to study occupational therapy. I’m upbeat, confident and enjoy working with other people. One of my passions in life is to helping others, and that has lead me to pursue a career in the health sciences field.
