Adult Auditory Performance Scale with Scoring & Norms
The AAPS is a 36-item questionnaire that assesses hearing and listening difficulty in a variety of auditory environments. There are six auditory environments assessed in the AAPS:
- Quiet
- Ideal
- Noise
- Multiple Inputs
- Auditory Attention Span
- Auditory Memory Sequencing
The AAPS produces an overall score (i.e., a global score), which is an average of all 36 responses. Higher scores indicate greater hearing and listening difficulty. Research has demonstrated strong relationships between the AAPS and listening to speech-in-noise in normal hearing adults (Roup et al., 2021).
The AAPS is a modified version of the Children’s Auditory Performance Scale (Smoski et al., 1998).
