Hello! I am a fourth-year doctoral student in the Social Psychology program working with Dr. Steven Spencer and Dr. Kentaro Fujita. I received my B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University.
My research interests broadly include psychological interventions aimed to increase academic achievement and motivation among underrepresented, first generation students. For example, in one line of work I examine whether a role model intervention that is strengthened with motivated reasoning are particularly effective at increasing positive outcomes such as sense of belonging, interest in science, behavioral intentions in science and the three types of fit—goal, social and identity fit, specifically for women in STEM. Through my work, I hope to develop strategies to help disadvantaged students in transition to college, specifically in a competitive field like STEM.
