Artifacts

My artifact is my MVP intramural flag football shirt. Intramural flag football is an activity that I decided to do with my friends early on in the first semester. When I first joined I was a unaware of how little I actual knew about the sport. After only winning the first game by a last minute touchdown to put us ahead by one, I did not have much hope of winning every single game. As we began practicing more, my belief that we could possibly win the championship grew. After an undefeated season of 5-0 we had won the intramural flag football scholar’s league championship in an overtime game. This was the first time in four years that a business scholars team had won the entire scholar’s league.

Deciding to join the flag football team was one of the best things I could have done for my first semester. Not only did I get to experience something new, but I was also able to be apart of a championship team. I enjoyed it because I was able to spend more time with my friends in a fun way and was even able to connect with some other business scholars I hadn’t really talked to before. The shirt is important to me because it is a reminder that I decided to go out for something I wasn’t super familiar or comfortable with. It also serves as a way to show that my hard work at learning and practicing had paid off. The shirt is a reminder of something fun I got to do with my friends and how excited the entire team is to go back next year and hopefully win the championship again!

About Me

My name is Brooklyn Spears. I am originally from a small town called Bucyrus which is about an hour and a half north of Columbus. At first I was overwhelmed by the big change of living in a small town to living on a huge campus in a bigger city; however, I am now in love with my new home and couln’t imagine studying anywhere else. I am currently a freshman here at Ohio State pursuing a major in business marketing and double minoring in communications and media and production analysis. With this degree and minors I hope to enter a career in sports marketing to direct ticket sales, promote athletes, or even market for a sports apparel company. I am currently involved with the Business Scholar’s program and Fisher cares here at OSU.  Throughought my fours years I hope to become more actively involved with organizations on campus. I would like to join American marketing association, join a business fraternity, get into the honors immersion program in the sports industry field, and sign up for more intramural sports. I enjoy (friendly) competition, spending time with friends and family, and exploring Columbus. Feel free to explore my ePortfolio to learn more about me and my hobbies!
