The Soybean Pathology Lab at The Ohio State University studies the most devastating pathogens that cause disease on soybean in Ohio. We survey Ohio production fields to identify the pathogens and characterize these populations for a number of key traits including pathotype and fungicide sensitivity. We then search for sources of resistance to these pathogens and then map the regions in the soybean genome that contribute to the expression of resistance. Our long term goal is to supply breeders with markers to assist in marker assisted selection as well as alleles of genes that contribute to resistance or susceptibility to these pathogens.
