TEDxOhioStateUniversity’s The Human Narrative Project
Ideas Worth Spreading: this simple mission statement encompasses what the TED organization has delivered to audiences worldwide for the past 26 years. With previous speakers including Bill Gates, David Blaine, and Jamie Oliver, TED not only showcases thinkers at the forefront of technology, education and design but also has expanded to address societal, cultural and other academic topics. The TED mission has since grown on a global scale, and was established on the Ohio State campus in 2012.
TEDxOhioStateUniversity is an independently organized TED event presented by a group of undergraduate students and features speakers associated with the university, ranging from alumni and professors to undergraduate and graduate students. This daylong event provides the audience access to ideas that Ohio State community members feel are worth spreading.
The theme of the 2015 TEDxOSU event is “The Human Narrative.” The beauty of this theme is in its ability to embrace a wide range of topics. The Ohio Union has provided a space for two chalkboards in the Great Hall that will serve as a forum for the Buckeye community to share present and future goals by answering two questions: “While at OSU I want to…” and “After OSU I will…” Those passing through the Union are greatly encouraged to share their ambitions with their fellow Buckeyes, and when the project is over, the results will be shared at the event. The TEDx organization hopes to use this project as an opportunity for participants to learn more about one another and to provide an enriching experience for the OSU community.
The Blackboards will be transported to the Mershon Auditorium, where the audience of the February 14, 2015 event will be exposed to cancer research, discussions of the laws of the universe, feminism, modern environmental issues and much more. If you are interested in attending TEDxOhioStateUniversity’s 2015 event, tickets will go on sale on January 11, 2015 on their website tedx.osu.edu.
