It’s almost the “most wonderful time of the year.” It’s when adults become kids again and families come together to share their holiday traditions. I’m sure some of us have already started listening to our favorite Holiday tunes and some may have already starting putting up their festive holiday decorations. There is nothing like holiday traditions that bring people together each year.
The Ohio State University possesses so many traditions that have become near and dear to our hearts. The sOUrce will focus on a special tradition one Thursday a month, because these traditions bring us closer together every year as a Buckeye family and make our time at Ohio State an experience we will never forget. Of course, there has to be some Buckeye Holiday Traditions and the signature campus event “Light Up the Lake,” is one of those. This event, created by Ohio Staters Inc., is to be held at Mirror Lake with the goal of uniting the student body during the Holiday Season.
“Light Up the Lake” will consist of a ceremony with a guest speaker and several performances. The ceremony will close with Carmen Ohio and lit candles while students gather around the lake. Students will also have the opportunity to enjoy sweet treats and hot chocolate.
“My favorite part is coming together with my fellow Buckeyes and singing Carmen Ohio with our candles burning bright,” says Christine Snowden, a co-chair for Light Up the Lake. What better way to relieve stress right before finals than to join your fellow Buckeyes and spread some Holiday cheer? Don’t miss your chance to witness this joyous occasion. Head over to Mirror Lake on December 4, 2014 at 6 p.m. and “Light Up the Lake”!
