We at the sOUrce never cease to be amazed at the many unique events that are held at our Union. A perfect example of this is the Sneaker Freaks Columbus Expo happening on September 26 in our Grand Ballroom. This event is hosted by the sneaker connoisseurs at Sneaker Freaks, a local business started by Jwork Limited and Fresh Sole, as well as local DJ D-Boogie. This collaborative effort allows them to host an expo where sneaker enthusiasts can buy, sell and trade some of the most popular and unique sneakers out there. A collection of sneakers that will be featured at Sneaker Freaks.
Not only does Sneaker Freaks provide a great way to explore the latest shoe styles, they also aim to create awareness about youth violence, especially violence over sneakers. In doing so they have partnered with Community for New Direction (CND), which aims to promote a safe and violence-free city.
While the Ohio Union serves as the living room of our campus, providing space and amenities for student group and university organizations, it is also a perfect representation of how The Ohio State University is a pillar of the Columbus community. Organizations like Sneaker Freaks can host their expos and conferences at our Union. This allows us to play a part in promoting better business, better education and better citizenship.
