Defining Leadership

There have been many times in my life when I have seen leadership in play. The moment that sticks out to me the most was during my junior year of high school track. We had an individual runner on our team that was excited about the opportunity we had in hand. My relay team had the chance to win a championship, but this would not come without overcoming odds. We all doubted our abilities and even the chance of us being remotely close beating the team with all the odds in their favor. The day before the championship meet at practice, he pulled my relay aside and began to tell us of the opportunity we had at hand. He told us all what running truly meant to him and why this opportunity was more than just a race or a moment in his life. He took it upon himself to open our eyes and really ingrain into us that what we did that next day, and the outcome of that situation, was more than just a moment but defined who we were and how we were willing to step up when things got tough and perform under the pressure of not just high school track, but everything we had to live for after.

My name is Francisco Soto. I am from Columbus, OH and will be apart of the incoming freshman class this fall studying Exercise Science with an interest in Physical Therapy.

Aside from my major I am very interested in learning about different cultures and languages along with getting a look inside what it takes to make it in the business world. I hope to earn my DPT and become a Physical Therapist and work for a professional athletic team. I’m looking forward to these next 4 years here at Ohio State. Go bucks!
