Artifacts

My artifact is the shirt I received from the PREFACE Summer Engineering Program coordinated by the Minority Engineering Program and the Office of Diversity, Outreach, and Inclusion. The program was a great experience from start to finish, and the shirt with its statement “Trust me, I’m a Buckeye Engineer” just about sums up the confidence I gained in entering The Ohio State University’s College of Engineering. In the program, I gained valuable experience tackling various engineering related courses, gaining development in professional settings, getting connecting with some of the staff in the College of Engineering and the Office of Diversity, Outreach, and Inclusion, and building powerful bonds with my peers that are now my closest friends at the university. Not only this, but I learned much more about myself and what I need to do to be successful in the College of Engineering.

My second artifact would have to be the Solo Beats Wireless Headphones that I got a month after I moved in. This item has become of great importance to me for a variety of reasons. First, and most importantly, it was a gift from my aunt, who could not attend my graduation but came to visit with the gift on a weekend in September. Next, my love for music has grown exponentially meeting new people who have introduced me to new types of music. Whether it is in my free time or when I am studying or doing homework, I now always seem to have my headphones on listening to something relaxing. To expand on listening to music while I am studying or doing homework, this is something I had never done throughout high school but have grown to love this semester. I take it as a way to isolate myself from everything else around and get to a point where I can focus without distraction.
