Year in Review

I am excited about the leadership experience I’ve gained over the past year at OSU, and especially with group teamwork involvement. Through the orgs I’m involved with, I have had to learn to deal with and plan large scale events and meetings with many differring people, backgrounds, and ideas. I love the talent I’ve gained of bringing the best out of everyone (team member, collaborating org, etc) to make the strengths stronger and build upon what individuals can do even better as a team. I am excited about my leadership potential for next year and the opportunities I’ll have to continue building on this skill.

About Me

IMG_1792[1]Hello World!

Hi! My name is Helina Solomon, and I am a student at Ohio State University. Over the past year, my senior year of high school, I took thirty credits worth of classes at Ohio State University, through their early college program “The Academy” (PSEO). This educational opportunity allows me to have sophomore standing at OSU, and begin taking more classes of interest to my major, World Politics. I love learning about international relations and law, languages, and humanitarian causes. Last year, I became a member of the UNICEF-OSU club, which is Ohio State’s branch of UNICEF on campus. I learned so much from the active and intelligent women who were on board, and began volunteering and fundraising for the causes I am so passionate about.

Through the past year at Ohio State, I was able to experience my first internship, which was in downtown Columbus at the Ohio Department of Mental Health. To be able to experience the “real world” work and business environment at seventeen years old was very eye-opening, and allowed me to better understand what I want in a future career. I also experienced my first job, which was in the Ohio Union Market, the dining hall on South Campus. I began to create a resume while being more involved on campus and making friends in the meantime. Balancing school, work, an internship, and my family responsibilities taught me so much about the importance of time management.

My goals for this year are to improve in every aspect of myself, spiritually and academically, as well as exploring more of my interests in campus organizations and future career objectives in IR and law.
