Lieutenant Commander (ASW) APA Prasanga psc, MBA, MSc (D & SS), BSc (DS)

Lieutenant Commander (ASW) APA Prasanga is a co-author of several publications on sex and labor trafficking as well as maritime activities.

He studied at the St. Aloysius’ College, Galle in Sri Lanka. He joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an officer cadet through General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) in 2001. He underwent his basic training at KDU and the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee. He is specialized in Anti-Submarine Warfare.

Some of the key appointments he has held during his naval career are Officer in Command of Fast Attack Craft (FACs), Training Officer, Group Commander and Squadron Commander of Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS), Training Officer of Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Squadron, Executive Officer of SLNS Udara Fast Gun Boat, Staff Officer Operations and Staff Officer Marine Conservation and Monitoring Cell in Southeastern Naval Command.

Lieutenant Commander (ASW) APA Prasanga awarded with Sri Lanka Armed Service Long Service Medal for his unblemished service and many campaign medals that include Northern Humanitarian Operation Medal & Clasp, Eastern Humanitarian Operation Medal & Clasp, North and East Operational Medal & Clasp, Phurna Bhumi Padakkama, Seva Padakkama and Sevabhimani Padakkama. He is a recipient of the Commander of the Navy’s commendation badge for his remarkable performances during Humanitarian Operation and he was awarded with RABS Squadron Pin, FAC Squadron Pin and Surface Warfare Badge for his reckonable and bravery service in the Sri Lanka Navy.

Amila graduated with a BSc (DS) in Management & Technical Sciences from KDU in year 2005, the MBA in  2011 from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka and the MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies from KDU in 2020. He has followed naval courses such as Sub Lieutenant Technical Course in India in  2006, Junior Staff Course in NMA in 2015, Long Anti-Submarine Warfare Course in India in  2015, and the Staff Course in Defence Services Command and Staff College in Sri Lanka in 2019.

He is presently performing duties as the Staff Officer Harbour Defence in Southern Naval Command in Galle, Sri Lanka. He is happily married to Nilanka.
