Sociomoral Development
We are interested in how adolescents, especially juvenile offenders, develop morally and come to and reason about moral judgments. We are also interested in comparing moral development cross-culturally and moral identity. Relatedly, we are interested in how to promote moral development and identify and correct cognitive distortions.
Prosocial Behavior
We are interested in whether prosocial (affiliative, friendly) teasing is possibly beneficial and related to parental warmth and acceptance (i.e., do warm, accepting parents also tend to tease their children with friendly intent?).
Complex Social Interactions
We are interested in how children, adolescents, and adults comprehend the differences between teases meant to be affiliative/friendly and teases meant to be hurtful. Relatedly, we are interested in the factors that may contribute to continued difficulty in this comprehension process, as well as the cognitive mechanisms of the comprehension process and how that may be affected by an online/text-based situation.
