Artifacts

An artifact from my experience is my JT Barrett jersey that I wore to the game.  When I accepted my offer to come to The Ohio State University, my parents bought me the jersey.  Being from Cincinnati I grew a die hard fan of the buckeyes, but I never owned a jersey until then.  I was so ecstatic to get it I immediately through it on and wore it all day.  Right when I got it I knew the perfect use for it.  Ohio State football games.  the first couple of weeks before the Bowling Green game I saw that jersey everyday hanging in my closet patiently waiting to be worn on a victorious Saturday.  Once the first game came around I woke up, showered and I knew exactly what I was going to wear.  I threw on the jersey and I knew it was going to be a great day.  Walking around the dorm I was not the only one with the idea of wearing a jersey. It seemed like everyone I ran into had some type of Ohio State jersey on.  Once I got int the stadium it was just a wave of scarlet throughout the stadium.  It was a magical feeling to look around be apart of something so big.  Then the football team ran out in the classic scarlet home jerseys, and looking at them wearing the same jersey I was, I knew Ohio state is where I belong.  That jersey represented more than just one play, it symbolizes the Ohio State team.  It says I go to Ohio State and I could not be prouder to say so.

Year in Review

This past year has been filled with new and old experiences.  Sophomore year is an interesting time at Ohio State because you are surrounded by the same people, and still live in a dorm.  There are not a whole lot of surprises from the university because you have had a year of experience at Ohio State already.  The big difference between freshman year and sophomore year for me has been my classes.  I have been able to dive into my major instead of having to worry about studying for calculus. The Dunn Sports and Scholars program has helped me on a personal level.  The constant inflow of professionals from the field of nutrition and personal fitness has motivated to me get myself into  better mental and physical shape.  I have improved my time management skills which has allowed me to allocate my time efficiently between class work, the clubs I am in, the ability to go to the gym, and make time for myself.  I have also learned how to eat healthier, although I sometimes slip on that with the occasional brownie. Dunn Sports and Wellness exceeded my expectations form move in day.  The community that this program forms is truly incredible, and it made the transition into college so much easier.  The close knit community you form as freshmen is also beneficial for sophomore year.  Living with people you truly enjoy freshman year sets you up fantastically for picking roommates for sophomore year.  I did not have to worry about finding somebody to live with last year because we all wanted to live together again.  This scholars program and everyone involved in it have been truly incredible, and it has been a pleasure to participate in it.  If I were to change one aspect of the program it would be to develop more a variety of professionals to come in and speak to us.  It felt like we primarily heard from people in the nutrition or self improvement field.  As an environmental major, I found these professionals interesting, but I did not get a lot from them in terms of my professional aspirations. Dunn Sports and Wellness has provided me a tremendous experience these last two years, and I am grateful for everything it gave me.

About Me

I am Jonathan Snider and I am from Milford, Ohio which is a suburb of Cincinnati.  My major is Environment, Economics, Development, Sustainability which is a fancy way of saying sustainability within business.  Some things I love to do is ski, golf, and play ultimate.  I also love to do almost anything in nature like hike or canoe and things like that.  My friends are typically laid back and fun.  They do not rush to judgement, and also enjoy being active and going on adventures.  My friends also have great senses of humor which always makes it enjoyable to be around them.  They also are all trustworthy and loyal which is what truly makes a good friend.  My family is a lot like this as well.  I love being around my family because everyone enjoys each other.  We all get each other and no one is to serious and enjoys having fun.  They realize life does not have be serious all the time, and when the family is together it is time to relax and have fun.
