For Summer 2019

  • Construction to renovate 33 Fry will begin soon so it can be completed for autumn semester. Next week only (May 6-10), third-year classes will be in 33 Fry to accommodate the Keystone 1 course. After that, 33 Fry will be unavailable until construction is finished. Beginning May 13, all classes will be in 22 Fry.
  • The VR Lab will move to 107 Fry (across the hall from the Eyewear Gallery) and Shawn Levstek will move to A512 Starling-Loving during the week of May 20.
  • Lockers located under the Fry tower will be relocated to the area outside of 22 Fry on May 20. If your locker is scheduled to be moved, Becca Roby has contacted you via e-mail. If your locker is moving, please empty it out before May 20.
  • Fry Hall construction will result in the relocation of some faculty offices both this summer and into the fall semester. Your summer faculty and attendings will let you know where their offices are located.
  • Most of the summer construction-related noise will occur in the early mornings before class.
  • If you need meeting room space this summer, Fry 33 will not be an option. As always, if you are looking for meeting space during the summer, please contact Becca Roby at roby.77@osu.edu.

Looking to the Future

  • When 33 Fry is complete, it will become a flat classroom with a different size/shape that will ultimately accommodate the creation of new student space to replace the existing student space underneath Starling-Loving and the Fry bridge as well as new restrooms. The timeline for completion of the new student space and restrooms is still to be determined.
  • Also, at some point next year, the Starling-Loving fourth-floor administrative staff (including the Student Services team and the Dean’s Office) will move to the sixth floor of Fry Hall, which will be renovated in the coming months.
  • From here forward, we will use The Snellen Letter, the Construction Blog, and Student Council meetings to update you on construction plans, timelines, and announcements. And as always, check your e-mail regularly in case we have any immediate construction-related announcements to share with you.
