Congratulations Brad!!!

With a number of high-quality nominations this year, the award selection committee recognized Bradley’s outstanding work for his mechanical engineering master’s thesis, “Analysis of Magnetic Gear End-Effects to Increase Torque and Reduce Computation Time.”

Brad Losey successfully defended his MS thesis on June 29, 2020. Brad’s committee consisted of Prof. Marcelo Dapino (advisor) and Prof. Rebecca Dupaix.

 

Award background:

The Frank Hirschvogel Foundation is the philanthropy arm of the Hirschvogel Automotive Group. In 2018, the Foundation provided a gift to OSU to support the award of a prize of $5,000 for the best MS thesis in ME, annually for five years. The award will be presented for the first time at OSU in 2019. The Foundation instituted the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize in working with leading German universities: see https://frankhirschvogelstiftung.de/en/activities/prizes. The Prize is presented to honor the life’s work of Dr. Manfred Hirschvogel. The Prize is worth €5,000 and has been awarded every year since 2013 at all TU9 universities, i.e. the nine leading technical universities in Germany. It recognizes the best PhD of the previous year from each institution in the area of Mechanical Engineering. The Hirschvogel Automotive Group, headquartered in Denklingen, Germany, is among the world’s largest automotive suppliers in the area of steel and aluminum forgings and machining.
