>> Arun Ramanathan earns 2020 MAE GTA Award!

Congratulations to Arun Ramanathan for receiving the 2020 Graduate Teaching Associate Award in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Arun is pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering with focus on flexible distributed sensors for vehicle applications under the guidance of Prof. Marcelo Dapino. He is a post-candidacy PhD candidate in the Smart Materials and Structures Laboratory and the Smart Vehicle Concepts Center.

Arun earned the GTA award as a teaching assistant in Spring Semester 2020 for ME 3260, System Dynamics and Vibrations.

>> Arun Ramanathan passed the Ph.D. candidacy exam

On May 8, 2020, Arun passed the Ph.D. candidacy examination in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His dissertation research is titled “Flexible piezoelectric sensing systems for large bandwidth surface-mounted and embedded applications.” Arun’s committee members are Profs. Dapino (advisor), Cho, Sundaresan, and Zhao.

On May 4, 2020, Hongqi (Hatcher) passed the Ph.D. candidacy examination in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Her dissertation research is titled “Joining of metal and fiber reinforced polymers using ultrasonic additive manufacturing.” Hatcher’s committee members are Profs. Dapino (advisor), Daehn (MSE), Katsube, and Luscher.
