Dotting the “i” in tonight’s Script Ohio is Garry Scott Kupfner II from Wadsworth, Ohio. Garry is in his fourth year in OSUMB and he is majoring in Integrated Systems Engineering, specializing in design.

Today’s Music Arranger

Lisa Galvin (TBDBITL ’79-’83) holds two degrees in Music Education from The Ohio State University, and recently retired after 30 years of successful teaching in central Ohio. She is a founding member of The Brass Band of Columbus, where she has held the position of Principal Horn for the past 30 years. Mrs. Galvin has served the Ohio Music Education Association in a number of capacities – most recently as the Co-Chair of the 2013 State Professional Development Conference. Her performing ensembles have been invited to perform at local, state and national events, and her high school bands have consistently received Superior Ratings at both District and State level events sanctioned by the Ohio Music Education Association.

Lisa has served as an adjunct lecturer in Music Technology at The Ohio State University and Capital University, and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at both institutions. She was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship with The Ohio State University Marching Band in 2005, and has been a member of the Music Arranging Staff for the band since 2008. Additionally, she serves as a music arranger for area high school bands, and has been commissioned to write music for a number of ensembles. Her musical contributions to The Ohio State University have recently received widespread critical acclaim, and she is a published composer.

Lisa holds membership in the National Association for Music Education and the Ohio Music Education Association. Additionally, she has been honored with induction into the American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters’ Fraternity and Phi Kappa Lambda International Music Honor Society. She and her husband, Joe, reside in Columbus, Ohio.
