Hi,
My name is Alira Simonds and I am a first year student studying psychology here at THE Ohio State University. I consider myself to be extremely privileged to be able to go to a school where the opportunities are so endless.
Here’s a little bit more about me:
I am from Columbus so being a buckeye has always been a dream of mine. Ever since middle school, I knew that I wanted to go into the mental health field. Living in such a big city, I have been a witness to how diverse our world is and having those encounters with all of those different people has interested me in learning more about the human mind and our behaviors.
In high school, I realised how important furthering my education is and so I decided to challenge myself with AP courses and taking English classes at Columbus State Community college all while keeping myself involved in Key club and Student government. When I set my mind to something, I like to process as much as I can to come up with the best plan possible.
I plan to earn my doctorate degree in psychology and assist individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. I’m going to put my all into my education and through research, internships and everything in between I will achieve the goals that I have set for myself.
