Sketchbook Prompts

3/29/2021 – More sketchbook prompts (Check #3)

3/22/2021 – More sketchbook prompts, at long last:

Prompts (top left to bottom right):

  1. Make a line drawing. Using a different color, make another line drawing or markings on top of the first drawing. Experiment with different subjects.
  2. Blacken a page of your sketchbook with charcoal or graphite. Use an eraser to draw a subject. Focus on creating an illusion of form.
  3. Ask someone to stay still while you draw his or her portrait. Try to create a likeness of your subject.
  4. Choose a subject that can be used to create a symmetrical drawing. Draw it in a sketchbook. Change your point of view and draw the same subject as an asymmetrical composition.

Prompt 5: Watch a movie on a computer or television. Pause the move at a scene that you find visually interesting. Draw the scene in your sketchbook. Pay special attention to the position of people and objects within the scene.

I ran out of space at the top of the page, and the shading is a little weird, but over all I am happy with the result. Especially the hand, oh boy. The hand took many attempts.
