About Me

Celeste7

My name is Celeste Simcox. I was born in Ethiopia and during my childhood my family and I traveled extensively. Having traveled and experienced new cultures without a tourist’s fogged perspective I was able to learn about poverty, hunger and the lack of opportunities for the majority of the people in this world. With travel came my love for nature. Mountains and fresh air are my favorite and I love to wake up, after driving for long periods of time, and find myself in a new and unexplored place. Nature is constantly full of surprises and I like to experience those surprises whenever I can!

My  academic career started in fifth grade, when my family moved back to the United States. I was amazed by how each kid had a desk with supplies in it and how there were teachers for each subject. I continued in the public school environment and as an eighth grader my mother took me to take an entrance exam for an all-girls private Catholic preparatory high school. I received my acceptance letter a few months later and the next August I found myself at Magnificat High School. I took advantage of the opportunities afforded to me and when I graduate in May 2015 I had been Varsity Swim Team Captain, President of the National Honor Society as well as co-president of the French club.

I believe in the complexities of the human race. I think that there is a limitless amount of information that one can thrive to learn and understand. As a result, I always carry a book with me. Education is key. People fight for education and as I am lucky enough to be able to receive one I feel it should not be something that is taken for granted. I did not learn to read until I was nine, so I know the feeling of suddenly having the world handed to you in the form of a book!
