Sigma Xi Ohio State University Chapter GIAR Program
The Ohio State Chapter of Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR) Program supports research in all areas of science, including but not limited to Biochemistry, Cellular & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Engineering, Geosciences, Speech & Hearing, Anthropology, Psychology, Math & Computer Sciences, Physics, Astronomy, Physiology, Immunology, and Food and Agricultural Sciences. One way that we support research at The Ohio State University is through the GIAR program, which helps to provide undergraduate and graduate students with valuable research experiences by funding their research projects. Sigma Xi is Scientists supporting Science.
Our Chapter has been supporting local student research through GIAR awards for more than a decade. Every year, approximately six student researchers from The Ohio State University are supported by our program. Applications from students are judged on the basis of (1) quality of the project narrative, (2) budget justification, and (3) strength and specificity of the faculty sponsor’s letter of support. Successful applicants will receive an award of up to $500 for Undergraduate students, and up to $1000 for Graduate students, as well as a nomination for Associate Membership in Sigma Xi. Honorable Mention Awards are also given. All GIAR recipients and Honorable Mention awardees are invited to attend our Annual Banquet. All queries regarding our local GIAR program should be emailed to Sigma_xi@osu.edu.
The Ohio State Chapter of Sigma Xi GIAR Deadline: Submissions for 2019 have now closed.
