About Me

Hi I’m Francesca Rose Shumrick and I’m from Cincinnati Ohio. I’m currently a second year in Environmental Public Health through Ohio State’s College of Public Health. I am an International Affairs Scholar, involved in Project Nicaragua, am a Global Gifts Volunteer, and an employee at Mio’s Pizzeria. In the coming year I hope to get more involved on Ohio State’s campus through student research, I am particularly interested in the areas of infectious disease, food sustainability and how they intersect. I hope to one day do research in those areas and to use that research to help those in developing countries.

I have been on several medical mission trips in the past three years and they have helped shape my career goals. I am passionate about helping those in third world countries through disease prevention and improved medical care. I plan on doing this by getting my master’s degree in epidemiology and one day working for an organization that improves health care system worldwide. Besides an interest in diseases and the science behind them; I enjoy reading, writing, travel, and yoga in my spare time. I plan on using my Public Health training to affect change on a broad global scale.
