Homework 13

In this episode of the documentary, I was submerged into the many different styles and stories about some of the world’s most famous artists. I drew some sort of inspiration from them all, but there’s a few in particular that stood out to me.
Albert Durer is the first artist that I will further discuss because he caught my eye from the beginning of the documentary. Durer has made intricate yet eye-catching work in a unique style that is not seen quite often. The amount of time and energy put into his work is definitely not overlooked.
The next artist I will talk about is Sarah Simbet. Her technique reminded me about what we did at the beginning of the year while sketching portraits. She observes her model and replicates it on the paper effortlessly, which I find very impressive.
The final artist that stuck out to me was Julian Trevelyan. By dipping his toes into LSD, he created works that only he could really see from his perspective. To everyone else, they are just sketches on a piece of paper. In the documentary he recalled while drawing that his pen never touched the paper. He described himself drawing in the air and seeing vivid colors that seemed bleak to the average person.
Overall, this documentary was something I enjoyed watching. Being able to learn about the stories of some of the most impactful and talented artists that have lived inspired me to perhaps try different techniques and appreciate art more than what is just presented in front of me.
