Global Awareness: I plan on studying abroad, perhaps in a non English-speaking country in order to gain more global awareness. I also intend to take classes that focus on societal and cultural ideas. For example, next semester I am taking Greek mythology and a comparative studies course.
Original Inquiry: I intend on pursuing writing as both a career and a hobby. I hope to be able to write professionally for a living, but while I’m a student I would like to pursue a writing internship for a company, but I will also write just for fun. I am thinking of taking a poetry course to satisfy my creative side of writing.
Academic Enrichment: I plan on taking many high-level biology and other natural science courses, such as cancer biology and genetics courses while I’m here at OSU. Even if I don’t intend on pursuing these topics as a career, I still want to challenge myself and learn more about the things I find interesting.
Leadership Development: I would like to join a service organization here on campus, or potentially start my own student club (that I would lead). I think it would be a lot of fun to have a gardening/botany club, so I may look into how I can go about doing that. I could also apply to be a leader of clubs I’m already interested in, like maker club.
Service Engagement: I intend on volunteering at local charities and student organizations, in particular those involved in helping underprivileged students, whether that be in the form of providing school lunch, tutoring, or donating school supplies. On a different note, I am also interested in becoming a handler to train a seeing eye dog for the blind here on campus.
